In 1665 the last owner of the Moon family sells the building to the first Count of Villaverde, Francisco Sanz de Cortés. From then important works are undertaken, as the construction of a gallery of little archs in the top of the main face of the building, in order to award an image more palatial to the fort.
As result of the previous interventions, there will remain formed the global image of the building that lasts up to the nowadays.
Afterwards, in the 17th century, there modifies the principal entry and enlarge the court of weapon with two lateral bastions, while in the interior the court is covered and the mausoleum of the Papa Luna is decorated.
Along the 19th century, the castle was inherited successively by the Counts of Arjillo and by the Bordiú Nava family, which will finish for donating it to Illueca’s Villa in 1981.
